Charterlea Kitchen

BUDGET: £46,000

This beautiful turn of the century house has been completely renovated inside and out by the current owners. The large kitchen, living space benefits from a magnificent roof lantern above the island which floods the space with natural light. To enhance the feeling of luxury we designed a stunning oversized island with breakfast bar depicted in beautiful dark stained English Oak, finished with burnished brass hinges and handles. We continued this theme through the base units of the cooker run of Miele appliances and matched the cabinet interiors of the painted furniture in dark oak.

More Detail

The tailor made panelled canopy frames the cooking area with a Miele induction hob and cleverly disguises the Westin extractor. The backsplash is tiled in a herringbone pattern Carrera marble. To the right a stunning double pantry cupboard provides ample space for the family’s groceries and to the left a double breakfast cabinet provides space for smaller appliances, accessories drawers and shelves for crockery. Both are designed with hand-painted Georgian style bi-fold panelled doors which provide simple elegance. The island is topped in stunning Westminster White Quartz with an undermounted double Kohler sink and aged brass Quooker Fusion tap. The oversized space provides plenty of additional low level storage space and a breakfast bar for casual family dining.

“Working with Lewis Alderson was brilliant from start to finish, Tom was a pleasure to work with and we felt that it was a proper collaboration and he was happy to take on our ideas. We wanted a modern take on a traditional shaker kitchen and loved the idea of combining painted cabinetry with a dark wood island, though we were worried we might have made a mistake, now it’s installed it looks amazing, and has really lifted the design and given us some wow factor. The quality is excellent and the installation team were really fabulous on site, we have small children and the team were really great with them and completely trustworthy. They were very tidy and the paint finish is flawless. We can’t wait to see the professional photography now!”
