This vintage inspired home in the leafy suburb of Wimbledon, South West London required a functional tailored kitchen to suit this busy family. However, the design also needed to offer a quirkiness which could balance the families eclectic range of furniture and accessories.
The proportions of this generous room allowed for a large island in beautiful solid walnut which perfectly offsets the family’s vintage furniture and creates a unique centrepiece to the room. The island is topped with Carrera Marble providing a luxurious touch of glamour to the overall design. The sink is served by Perrin & Rowe mixer taps with the addition of a contemporary spray rinse.
Tailored cabinetry to the back wall provides ample storage and workspace for the stainless steel range cooker and hood. The wall cabinets were unusually hung against a fully tiled wall of white ‘bricks’ which act as a practical backsplash and reflect light back into the room. The mixed palette of dark blue, cream and warm wood is reflected throughout the room in soft furnishings, lighting and the stunning herringbone flooring, providing a cosy and inviting family space.
